Pastor Gus Craven is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. His great-grandfather owned and operated what was known as the Open Buckle Ranch in the Wanblee area. He graduated from Trinity Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and a minor in Pastoral Studies and Counseling. In 1999 he was ordained by the Assemblies of God.

Terry grew up about 40 miles away from Wanblee in Wall, South Dakota. Wall is the gateway to the Badlands and the home of the “famous” Wall Drug Store. She also completed general studies and some Bible studies at Trinity Bible College. She is licensed with Assemblies of God, is working toward her degree through the Berean School of the Bible, and is also pursuing an elementary education degree.

Gus and Terry moved to Mission in 1999 and took over the Pastorate Ministry Assembly of God. In 9 years of ministry at Mission Assembly, they built additions onto the church, which doubled it in size. They also established a feeding program that operates five days a week, and have a food pantry that serves many homes.

The Craven’s have established children’s ministries that focus on building relationships with local children. During the summer they manage the Learning Center helping kids with math, reading and computer skills.
